According to the British “Daily Mail” report, a girl named Lauren Witlin in the United Kingdom suffered from a rare disease – allergic to all foods. Even the smell of food may trigger allergic reactions.
Witlin is a 20-year-old and lives in Kettering, Northamptonshire, England. Before getting sick, she liked to go out to eat and drink with friends and eat fish and chips with her family.
However, four years ago, after she had eaten soy and dairy products, she began to experience hives, fainting, and rapid heartbeat. Later, she found out that she would develop hives whenever she touched or smelled food. The doctor confirmed that she had mast cell activation syndrome. This is a rare immune system disease. Cells in the patient’s body should resist external threats, but mutate in turn attack the body itself.
In addition to being allergic to all foods, she is also allergic to alcohol, cigarettes, and perfume. She wears a mask all the time when she goes out to prevent any smell.
